My Filthy Little Beast

Think she's having a good time????

Heading Up The AlCan Highway

Nan, hanging around a bar, working on her blog post.
The Falls at Waterton (Townsite Campground)

Funny story about this Mile Zero Marker in Dawson Creek, BC...the group is trying very, very hard to ditch me and this try, they sent me to a totally different Mile Zero Marker. They went to one on the highway, which can accommodate many tourists. This one they sent me to, was right in the middle of town square. If I read the plaque correctly, THIS ONE is the original. The Mile Zero was moved to its current site. Haha - they didn't ditch me successfully, YET!
Here's my site at Sikanni River Campground, directly on the Sikanni River, on the AlCan Highway. (about 130 miles from Mile Zero - Dawson Creek).

On the way to the campground, this little black bear was just hauling his tail across the road, right in front of me.

You know, all this traveling sure tuckers a woman (or women plural) out...

That's all for now...we have to sit on the front porch of the office to get wi-fi and it's COLD. Brrrrrr.

Heading To Canada

We FINALLY had an opportunity to have our first campfire of the trip! I was beside myself! A little chilly, but full of smoky ambiance nonetheless...

Luckily. Abby has a nice Auntie who kept her warm.

In the morning, we packed up our little group and headed for the border. Customs was a breeze - a few questions and we were on our merry way to Townsite Campground in Waterton National Park.

Along the way, we were stopped in the middle of the road by a cattle drive, complete with cattle, herding dogs, and cowboys.

Saw another grizzly, looked young. He started to come up the small embankment, and I hightailed it to the van!

We then decided to have a nice lunch in town, and stopped in a nice trendy eatery, just sitting in our booth, eating and looking trendy.

But little did we realize that Tina had forgotten her FINE ARTS MANNERS...

She toppled her glass of water and blamed it on the tablecloth. So, the waitresses come over and cleaned up the large puddle. We're now back to eating and looking trendy, if slightly embarrassed. Lo and behold, she topples yet another glass of water!

Waitresses come back and clean up this spill. One waitress then brought out Tina's THIRD glass of water - IN A SIPPY CUP!! We just about died laughing.

The view here and at The Prince of Wales Hotel are beyond description. We had all decided to experience a High Tea at the hotel. As luck would have it, it's not open yet for the season. But the views were still out of this world.

Took a late afternoon drive (which is where we actually spotted that young grizzly) up to Cameron Lake (a couple of you reading this may remember Cameron Lake).

Nan was taking her vista viewing very seriously...

Liz jumped the guardrail for a better shot...what she won't do to entertain you all!

So, all in all, a GREAT day. Hopefully, many more still to come.

Miss you and love you.

A Bear-ee Nice Day

today, we're off to explore Many Glacier in the park.

Belle wanted to come to see the sights, but once she got a taste of the high winds, nuh-uh, no siree, get me out of here!

But, all in all, we had a BEAR-EE nice tour...

Liz will have some great shots of that grizzly eating a fish for its lunch!

My Little Fun Finder - A Speck Amidst All The Beauty

See the teeny Fun Finder about lower middle? That's me.

A gorge on Going To The Sun Highway.

The Little Beast NEVER sleeps under the covers...except starting two nights ago. It's cold!

We took a nice hike yesterday...going down was the easy part! Liz never doesn't have a smile on her face. Oh, yeah - I had my hair whacked off...too hard to keep clean in this cold.

We'll be over the border on Monday. Won't have much opportunity to communicate. So, say your good-bys to Abby...I'll be fitting her with that bacon collar soon! :)

Glacier National Park - Finally

We finally made it...three of us, anyway. Nan and Birdie stayed behind because they were both having mail delivered to a private campground in Great Falls (which we toured today - THE Great Falls and The Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center...VERY interesting! Such fortitude, stamina, and determination these men ( and one woman) had in 1804!) (I forgot my camera.)

Since I'm the baby of the group, I had to pay $25 just to enter the park and another $23/night to camp. Almost makes me wish I was REALLY old, like the rest of my traveling companions...just saying'.
Here is some of the scenery we say on our drive today.

The Mobile Marlin from the far end of the loop we are in. See her WAY down below, center?

And the view from my bed! Unbelievable.

We're hunkered down again, both to wait for Birdie and Nan, and to wait out some possible bad weather. Next stop - Waterton and The Prince of Wales Hotel.
